Fire at Montezuma NWR

Bummer. There's an eagle nest right in that area.

  1. Hi, I went there on my way to Ithaca yesterday. The eagle nest is ok, they were covered in ash as it burned underneath them, but the ranger said it seems the eggs have hatched and they are doing ok. Much of what burned was invasive grasses and cattails. The main pool was pretty empty of waterfowl, but it seems it is still a viable stopping place for waterfowl and the fire was not as devestating as it could have been.
