Stop! Thief!

This sucks--I just noticed that someone ripped off great swaths of text from my Owls of Harry Potter for her own blog! I'm so tired of people stealing my best lines and stuff, but this is ridiculous, and it sounds like she has a commercial site, not just a personal one. I don't have a myspace page so I can't even email her. But she took the information from my Owls of Harry Potter page, and it looks like she may have also taken things from Karla Kinstler's pages.

  1. I would try to submit your story to the You Thought We Wouldn't Notice blog.

They post stuff like this to help expose people you steal content and pretend it is their own.

  2. I heard about this on twitter. As a fellow writer and blogger, I'm appalled. I took the liberty of reporting the woman in question to myspace as a violation of the terms of its content policy. Hope that helps.

  3. It really distresses me that someone would steal from another person's creative energy. How did you discover this? Maybe we should all be on the lookout for such creative thieves.

  4. This is downright thievery. She should link to your url and give you credit...and that is only after she has asked your permission to use your material. There must be somewhere this can be reported.

  5. You can report the copyright violation to MySpace. Here's the MySpace FAQ on the issue.

  7. Hi I just found your blog. I'm sorry you've had to deal with someone stealing your work. I used to be a crafter and the things I created were copied several times. It wasn't just the fact that they stole my ideas, but often people would come up to me and tell me they had done it and one even said "well you can't do anything about it can you?" I hope you can complain and put a stop to it. It is so very frustrating.

  8. The thief has such a disorganized unattractive site (except for the stolen parts). It's rather pathetic that it/he/she doesn't have enough original thoughts to maintain the site.

A resounding booooooo to the thief.
