My husband and I have been going through old boxes of stuff, and came across this biography of me, written by one of the kids while in 5th or 6th grade.
Interesting Bird Lady
My mother is a pretty interesting person. She knows a lot about birds and even has her own radio program about them. She thinks life is hopeful and wonderful. She has written two books about birds and is working on a third. She’s in the paper a lot, has been on the news a few times, and has even met Dave Barry once. The only problem is that we have nine birds living in our house, and I hate when I have to clean their cages or feed them all.
My mother got interested in birds when she was very young. At the age of five, she memorized the whole bird section in the B encyclopedia. Her family didn’t have binoculars or a field guide, which kept her from learning how to birdwatch until she was much older. When she did learn how, she got addicted. She’s also addicted to playing Tetris and writing haikus. Her imitations of the Wicked Witch of the West, characters from Sesame Street, and lots of bird calls are impressive. She is very weird and interesting.
