The July 9 New Yorker had a "Talk of the Town" entry about birdnappings in New York City. People are suddenly netting pigeons by the dozens and carrying them off, and no one seems to know why. But I have a theory. Tonight, to celebrate our wedding anniversary (also the 39th anniversary of our first date!) Russ and I went to see The Bourne Ultimatum. I noticed only a single scene with pigeons (I suppose I'll have to watch it again to see if I missed any others)--when a car was careering down a narrow alley in Paris, a pigeon flew through. But I noticed in the credits for the Paris unit a credit for both a "Pigeon Wrangler" and a "Pigeon Handler." Maybe these pigeons are being lured away to star in movies.
Other than the dearth of birds, the movie was quite good--if dizzying for one of my advanced years. (That 39 years since my first date with Russ is somewhat shocking, isn't it?)
